THE GETGO GANG

Hector is an at home kid wherever he goes, takes the opposite side of an argument just to show it exists, and is entering puberty with both his eyes and The Poppa's wallet wide open when he quips, "buy our next car bigger, Dad, so there's more "flirt" room in the back!"

He's a quick-witted only child from a family where The Mamma makes all the "little" decisions like what car to buy, where to live, what to watch on tv. . .and The Pappa makes all the "big" decisions like whether to impeach Clinton, bomb Iraq or canonize Diana.
When Putz strayed to the door, The Momma couldn't say no to the identical moles, untamed crops of hair, wily smiles, and bent digits he shares with Hector! If ever a pet resembled his owner, one look--and Putz became "a keeper."

Wade is Hector's best friend and one of those "genius types" who often lacks common sense. Once, when out of paper, he made five copies of a blank sheet of paper on the copy machine and from that point on he earned the nickname "MUSH."  Maybe, he's a case of true genius knowing when and how to play dumb--a game in which he purposely keeps everyone guessing.

Kinsey's so big on herself she's unaware that her classmates take an "instant dislike to her simply to save time." If asked whom she'd pick as a Siamese twin, she'd likely pick herself even over Pamela Lee, and to her, "gals who try to be like guys lack ambition."
Hector's popularity makes him her primary target for ridicule but Hector knows just how to bounce barbs off her rubber ego. "Your IQ doubled doesn't reach triple digits," she once told him. He quickly rebounded, "Oh, yeah. . .well I'll bet you can't say Richard and Robert bought a Retriever without any R's." When she showed a dumb look he defended his intelligence with "Dick and Bob bought a dog!"

Hector and Bristol are both only children so they semi-bond like brother and sister. They are two peas in a pod who share attentions only at home, weeknights, weekends, and summer vacation.
School is "no zone" for acknowledgment and eye contact is fully off limits. While totally oblivious to any boyfriend or girlfriend involvement, Hector warns her "we could never marry 'cause I want to be an uncle!"

Tanner inherited his place in The Hang Gang by being Hector's adopted cousin--but he doesn't just come along for the ride. He's liked for his clever perception and twists of the English language.
Quietness at its loudest, Tanner's silence means the words are coming. To him ebonics should be avoided--"No way am I taking a class in Ebola!"

Denika is Kinsey's friend and the new girl in town. While every guy has his eye on her, she has her eye on Hector and is the only person who can make him a stranger to himself--a feeling he's blundersome with, yet she enjoys causing him repeatedly.
She is confident in a quiet way, yet proof "if it weren't for the courage of women there'd be more single guys in the world." Hector gets his stupidest around her. Even a single yes or no question becomes multiple guesses when Denika asks one.

The Momma is almost a whole other person with more artificial and spare body parts then a salvage yard. Hector thinks she's quite a "fashion plate" for someone who's "pieces parts." Maybe she's why he's such a crusader for the underdog.

The Poppa, while stone quiet, easily tickles others with his wry wit and perception. He's a "Tim Taylor on paper" who uses twisted logic to prove his point. He'll tell you his idea of exercise is "pushing his luck," and it's heir apparent Hector's wit is ripe for the picking.
