There are a lot of concerns I hold in my head. Here at "Dear Hector" we share letters. Need help like me? E Mail your Q's and A's to me via devro@twd.net.

Other kids have already written and have wanted to know. . .like AS from Pine Knoll Shores, NC:

Dear Hector:
I want to have friends over but my mom won't let me. And that's because I'm always grounded. What can I do?
AS, 13, Pine Knoll Shores, NC

Dear AS:
Everyone needs "time out" to play with friends. Maybe it's your choice of
friends. Ask your mom who you can have over to play after the grounding
is over. Have you tried asking her for other kinds of grounding: like a set
time away from television, a set time away from the computer, or other
things she knows you like.?
Try this out for size,
HECTOR

Dear Hector:
My friends and I went to a movie my mother did not want me to see. How can I keep her from finding out?
                                            JM, 15, Avalon TX
                                                        Dear JM:
Did she ask you about the movie when you got home? I know I always
get found out in my lies. I'm getting smarter, though. I know now if I'm
gonna do something she's not gonna like, I have to decide whether I want
her punishment later for doing the things I wanna do. I don't know about
your mom, but my mom's BIG on knowing how to punish me so I think
twice about disobeying her.
"Been there--done that" routine,
HECTOR
