Garden Visitors

People find relaxation and quiet comfort sitting in the garden. But to find other creatures living or visiting is a welcome benefit.

Butterflies will enjoy the garden and bring an added dimension to it. Plant any plant that blooms and you can not go wrong attracting some.

Hummingbirds sit on top of the Rose of Sharon motionless. They dart back and forth and sound like little Helicopters playing tag. I can almost reach out and touch them. I am attempting to photograph them for this page.

The sunflowers attracted yellow finches and mass quanities of bees. This is a cheap way to feed the birds and have cut flowers all summer long. The bees are a problem during the hottest part of the day,as we can not cut flowers for fear of being stung.

Rabbits, garden snakes and toads make our gardens home. The snakes I could live without. I try to pick them up on a long shovel and move them to the woods. The other method I employ is to run away screaming hoping to scare them away. The plants and vegetables were not harmed by the rabbits, this I have not been able to figure out.
